You pass them by every day. You head out of the office for lunch, and before you know it you're looking up at them in admiration, and you can't help but stand in awe at the tremendous detail that went into these buildings of Old Toronto. Some are lucky enough to be protected by "Heritage" status, and others unfortunately are demolished in the name of progress.
Like the pyramids of the Giza Plateau, Architects created these masterpieces not only as an expression of human accomplishment, but also as visual art. Their presence brought an emotional response from whoever set eyes on them, and now that most of what was "Old Town Toronto" has been lost, these iconic pieces of architectural craftsmanship are virtually unknown to most Canadians today.
Although lost forever, they don't have to be forgotten. By means of 3D technology, we are recreating these lost treasures, taking great care to make every aspect of each building as accurate as possible. This resource will bring back Old Town Toronto's architectural wonders in rich colorful illustrations and will be an invaluable repository for scholars, historic preservationists and our tourism industry. Our aim is to keep these structures significant, and will prove to be one of the most unique and versatile collections of Toronto's historic architecture anywhere in the world.
Please check back at a later time for the progress of this project.
